Lovefoxxx: Inca-Lycra queen of the 00s
Jan. 21st, 2008 08:22 amRainbows, stripes, gold lamé, animal prints, nu-rave, new wave, thrift leotards stretched over generous curves, all-over face paint, mid-song costume changes, clouds, toilet seats, scrawled thunderbolt letters on arms and legs, yellow nail varnish, stagediving, drawn-on specs, Inca zig zags, black metal, lycra, sexxx appeal, death from above, shopping on the road...

Does anyone now doubt it? Luísa Hanaê Matsushita -- the carnal carnie and one-woman carnival float familiar to millions as Lovefoxxx -- is this decade's key dresser, standing to the wilder, hipper, wider, hippier side of the noughties as Björk Guðmundsdóttir did to the nineties. Quite frankly, nobody does it better because nobody else, this decade, has really been trying. Let it be entered in the annals of style in gold-ink roller biro -- this may not be what we looked like in 2008 (we didn't really dare!), but it's how we'll be remembered and revived.

Date: 2008-01-21 02:45 pm (UTC)Why do people find drinking fun?
I still remember I found adults drinking some bitter stuff stupid when i was 4, and now i m 18 and people around me always say drinking is fun. fun my ass. they are just too pathetic and thinks that they have to drink to give them license to release their emotions. Drinking is such a worthless social construct.
Anyone shares my view?

Date: 2008-01-22 12:31 am (UTC)I used to be exactly like you....Hating the taste of alcohol and wondering why people couldn't just release their emotions without it....But then I got drunk. and it was beautiful. i feel sorry for you for missing out!!! ♥ I am 18 also.

Comment A
Date: 2008-01-21 06:02 pm (UTC)London (and New York going by Misshapes) left the circus for dark teenism: long black bowls, monochrome Arabian necking, b-or-w drainpipes, studded belts, white spectacles, hippy beards and horrorism, skulls and ponchos, John Cooper Clarke, runny make-up, spooky emotionless secretaries and rural school teachers.
Still, the common thread was ‘cartoonish’, youth trade media-fodder more than music. And cute.

Date: 2008-01-21 06:03 pm (UTC)Cute. Magazine-able. Style-able. Music for oldies. Clinging. Clinging but not listening. Not even buying. Reading the Observer.
Coming up: plaid’n’braces, the return of the goatee (David Brent no more, but it takes real guts).

Björk is still the queen, and then we have chicks like M.I.A., HK119, Natasha Khan, Peaches....no end to the awesome!
