Rainbows, stripes, gold lamé, animal prints, nu-rave, new wave, thrift leotards stretched over generous curves, all-over face paint, mid-song costume changes, clouds, toilet seats, scrawled thunderbolt letters on arms and legs, yellow nail varnish, stagediving, drawn-on specs, Inca zig zags, black metal, lycra, sexxx appeal, death from above, shopping on the road...

Does anyone now doubt it? Luísa Hanaê Matsushita -- the carnal carnie and one-woman carnival float familiar to millions as Lovefoxxx -- is this decade's key dresser, standing to the wilder, hipper, wider, hippier side of the noughties as Björk Guðmundsdóttir did to the nineties. Quite frankly, nobody does it better because nobody else, this decade, has really been trying. Let it be entered in the annals of style in gold-ink roller biro -- this may not be what we looked like in 2008 (we didn't really dare!), but it's how we'll be remembered and revived.

While I can certainly appreciate some of the costumes I can't get into this music at all. I wish this girl was a singer for a traditional South American music band. I used to think Dandi Wind had a lot of great costumes. I was really excited to hear her music, thinking it would match the wild clothes and make up. I was pretty disappointed when it revealed itself to be mundane electroclash shit with lyrics about George Bush. I like that gold bodysuit with the face on it. I can't stand it when people have "black metal" as an interest ironically either. Or when people but "Christian Rap" as their music genre on myspace.

Talking to people in bars in the hipster milieu, people actually seriously believe black metal is the last creative frontier in rock. Unfortunately, they're about 12 years too late.

People I can think of who've claimed to believe this: Cornelius, John out of the Mountain Goats, Jason Forrest, O. Lamm... Luckily, like CSS, they don't sound like they believe it.

Yeah that is the issue. If they seriously like it and aren't just getting into it to appear eccentric or different then they usually buy the current shit(which is literally shit)
Black metal was original, inspiring and interesting for a very short period of time. Sometimes when a person finds out I like black metal(among a ton of other things) they will recommend me all these new bands. I will check out the band because they will have a myspace and it's just constant blast beats with self obsessed lyrics about suicide or "fuck god" lyrics with been-there-done-that buzzsaw guitars. NO thanks.
