Hurrah for Beck's new song, 'Hell Yes', a return to his robo-funkin' roots! (I particularly like the Japanese female voice that says 'Please enjoy!' in the chorus.) And hurrah for Mumbleboy's Flash video for it, which looks nice and cheap and inventive, like Beck used to be!

Here's the video:

You can still watch Mumbleboy's video for my 2001 song 'Tape Recorder Man' on his site:

Tape Recorder Man (Flash animation)

Actually, if there are any Flash geniuses out there who want to make an animation for a track off my new album for their showreel, speak now!

flash animations and especially mumbleboy's work reminds too much me of what we've done in art school in the mid nineties. but that's my personal trauma.
my favorite video clip of last year is Circlesquare's "7 minutes" by Jaron Albertin. you can watch it on the Soft Citizen site (www.softcitizen.com/directors.php?director=Jaron%20Albertin). it really gets under your skin.
i am no particular flash aficionado but i would be very very tempted to make a clip for one of the new tracks by other means (e.g. i still have some super 8 reels that are over expiry date... ;)
probably i get something done until your return to berlin.
what do you think?

Hi Eric! Yes, that Jaron Albertin piece is very strong. It's digital effects like morphing and blurring made on digital video, right? Powerful stuff (and I like the track too).

The Super 8 thing sounds great, do you have a track in mind? I'll pencil you in and we can explore the idea more back in Berlin, ne?
