Richard G., I saw "F. 9/11" last weekend in Montreal, with French subtitles which lost some of the subtlety, but then it's not exactly a subtle movie. Thanks for pointing out how close to "Apocalypse Now" life in wartime has now become. Have you ever also noticed that most American right-wing talkshow hosts on TV and radio use "heartland" rockist and roll for their theme songs? (Rush Limbaugh uses or used to use the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" with no apparent irony.)
Walking home at 4:30 in the morning down St. Catherine in Montreal's Village, I saw two Arabic-looking youths who were exiting a leather/S&M bar and looking more than a little bedraggled. Said one to the other: "We should have gone to Abu Ghraib instead!" I swear I did not make that up.
