Connections ( with Rockism)

Are we to deduce visual connections between these images ? Random Momusia perhaps ;although I do realise you are probably visiting Toog and Hypo as well as catching the Palais de Tokyo art show and maybe there are some kind of hidden links between the artifacts in the images ( ie which ones are the exhibition ? ). The art exhibition looks very Pop art...

On a not un-connected note, I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 this weekend in LA. It was much better than I had expected, very thought provoking and even for the converted a call to moral-action. One sequence in particular showed soldiers in a tank getting 'pumped up' listening to an extreme heavy metal band (with a lyrics along the lines of "kill the motherfuckers") as they set about attacking Iraq civilan targets. This was extremely chilling ( shades of Apocalypse Now) and brought to mind your recent comments about Rockism. Go and see it.

Richard G., I saw "F. 9/11" last weekend in Montreal, with French subtitles which lost some of the subtlety, but then it's not exactly a subtle movie. Thanks for pointing out how close to "Apocalypse Now" life in wartime has now become. Have you ever also noticed that most American right-wing talkshow hosts on TV and radio use "heartland" rockist and roll for their theme songs? (Rush Limbaugh uses or used to use the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone" with no apparent irony.)

Walking home at 4:30 in the morning down St. Catherine in Montreal's Village, I saw two Arabic-looking youths who were exiting a leather/S&M bar and looking more than a little bedraggled. Said one to the other: "We should have gone to Abu Ghraib instead!" I swear I did not make that up.

oh you are in Paris ? that's good, that's good...

If you'd read previous Hypo interviews you would know Palais de Tokyo sucks (since its beginning anyway) :)

What I like about Index magazine is that I can (easily) find it in most big cities around the world. The place doesn't make the scene... (?)

The little japanese boy (momus) with the camera is defying gravity (picture on top)...and is that Hypo protecting the record store from a particularly meddlesome thief?
Re: Fahrenheit 9/11. Moore said that the French are the new democratic party. Hypo already has a manifest: http://www.tsunami-addiction.com/axe23hypo1.htm

That first picture is mesmerizing. I can't figure out what exactly is going on there. Someone's standing on a banner! That's really cool. Hmm, maybe it's a mirror? Well, who cares? Someone's standing on a banner! It reminds me of how my family took the big important trip to Disney World when I was only two, so all I remember are abstract shapes and oranges and reds, and mirrors.

What the pictures are:

Momus (dressed as a little Japanese boy) at the Forum exhibition in Barcelona, pictured in a mirror reflecting a floor painted with the first words of the declaration of human rights in many languages.

Toog's room in Paris, with New York wallpaper and musical instruments.

Hypo at his dayjob in the basement of the Gilbert Jeune record store, Boulevard St Michel, Paris.

A journalist called Ilan, and some artworks at the Palais de Tokyo by Bruno Peinado (http://www.loevenbruck.com/peinado_en.shtml).

Now, why does he get away with the Michelin parody and Momus didn't? Thank you for taking me back to the Palais, sir.
