From time to time I've been asked to co-write songs with people and sing on their records as a guest vocalist. Today I'm offering you a podcast consisting of five collaborations from the past five years or so, tracks I made with Kreidler, Bran Van 3000, Hypo, O.LAMM and The 6ths. It's weird and wonderful to sing on the records of the artists you admire -- the ultimate karaoke session, in a sense. In between the songs, I've told the stories of how these collaborations came about, and what it was like to work with the people involved. The O.LAMM track is an exclusive, the world's first glimpse into his monumentally funky new album Monolith, due this November on Active Suspension. Click the picture to download the podcast.

As scissors are to magazines, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is to podcasts and mp3 radio, to draw out the pieces you need. It's nice to be made aware of your extracurriculars, such as Momus-produced track twelve (http://www.stereototal.de/music/download_rare.html).

I remember Laila saying self-deprecatingly that instead of singing she "quacks like a duck". It wasn't always the case, but I'm afraid on "The Other Side of You" that's all too true.

Why won't Darla send me your CD until mid-October? I'm impatient, and I can't find it on Soulseek. It should be on iTunes with Otto and Oscar, as well.

The UK and US releases should have been simultaneous, but there was a delay in the US because we were considering putting a movie on the CD, and there were also some artwork snafus.

I'm kind of glad it's not on Soulseek, but anyone who does download the record free should consider making a donation through the front page of imomus.com (http://imomus.com).

Otto and Oskar aren't on iTunes. But if you're very impatient you can download the record through Cherry Red's download site (http://secure1.mppglobal.com/ishop/202/cheap-uk-music-download/Momus/Momus-Ocky-Milk-Music-Download/274819/ProductInfo.aspx). I'm assured it's now glitch-free.

Otto and Oskar are on iTunes in the US. I bought from Darla, and will wait, keep Ocky on Soulseek's wishlist.

Are they? I'm just seeing the Euro-iTunes here, then.

Thanks for buying the record, and sorry for the wait!

If you ever want to check the availability of your records elsewhere, or which songs are popular where, you can change your country in iTunes at the bottom of the iTunes store page (& you can purchase from another country's store if you have a credit card based there). Looking at the UK store now, it's odd that so many more of your records are available in the US.

It's not really that odd. My staggered career has meant that most of my press'n'promo in the UK happened in the late 80s, whereas most of same in the US (and Japan) happened in the late 90s.
