I'm about to head out to make a New York podcast, fired up by the new feature in iTunes which allows you to subscribe to and manage podcasts. (To add iMomus podcasts to your podcast list go to the "Advanced" menu in iTunes, choose "Add podcast" and type or paste in "http://www.imomus.com/momusradio.rss".)

In the meantime, here's a curious and ingenious Flash game called Tetka, made by some Russian sadist. It's a kind of Tetris, I guess, but with a semi-naked, oddly floppy and bendy woman instead of a cube. Tetka falls, corpselike, from bouncy bubble to bouncy bubble, often getting her ankles all wrapped up in her ears in the process. After playing for a while (quite a long while, the game is curiously erotic) I discovered that if I held the alt key down, clicked and dragged Tetka, I could wiggle her body around or suspend it in space. The simplest games are always the most compelling, and this game (unscored, although not completely lacking in motivational factors) combines the relaxing appeal of Tetris with the sadistic lure of a God Game. Here, though, God really is a tender pervert.

toy/game

With a nod to Maxis, it's really more of a toy than a game.

*sigh* I tried posting this twice, so if it doesn't work this time.......I'll just save it for another day.

Anyway, this internet installation (http://vansowerwine.com/installation/playwithmeint.htm) is very ....... I am looking for a word, but the only thing I can think of is "creepy." Sadistic, might fit, too.

Enjoy.

it doesn't look like a game at all. Motivational factors? You can't change anything. It's just click-and-drag toy, office time killer.

I obviously demand less of my "games" than you guys! I'm like "Katamari Damacy's nice, but why can't those balls roll themselves around, and I just watch?"

Your remark about simplistic games made me want to comment about Katamari Damacy - it has become an additction for me. It's fun to play, but what's most fascinating are all of the objects the game designers chose to include. Simply amazing.

It's odd... you try to make her look graceful, but no matter how hard you plan, she always gets herself into a catastrphically grotesque position.

Gruesome!

The idea of Elton John in a bikini being tossed about like this somehow seems less unsettling.

I like the game.

Where does one find good podcasts to listen to?

I've found this game shortly after a discussion about Tetka, and it's similar but a bit more involved. It's two games from the "Dismount" series,
Image Truck Dismount (http://jet.ro/dismount/rekkaturvat/download.cgi?zip), in which you simply modify the placement or even existennce of two ramps, the velocity of a truck, and the placement of a DJ in or on that truck, and you do your best to wound him as much as possible in the ensuing collision with an immobile wall.

Previous to that game, and perhaps more enjoyable for the pure simplicity of it, is
ImageStair Dismount (http://taat.fi/taat/porrasturvat/porrasturvat102.zip). You control the force and angle at which a ragdoll is hit, and proceed to knock it down the stairs, inflicting as much damage as possible.

Beyond that is the pure-ragdoll action of Dismount Levels (http://jet.ro/dismount/), a platform game based off the physics engine of these first two games, but with control more akin to Tetka.

All do a fairly good job of providing simple, intuitive, and precise control, the hallmark of any truly great game.

What is tender about this perversion? Maybe you are using a modern dictionary?

The new podcast feature is thrilling, isn't it? It's the easiest to use that I've come across yet.

What do you use for doing your recordings?

I use an old digital camera, the Fujifilm Finepix F601. The camera bit is broken, but the mic still works, and the sound files are small, so you can talk for hours.

again i have lost yr email

Actually, I believe this was created as a demonstration of ragdoll physics.

Haha. I discovered this yesterday, and I couldn't stop playing with it either. It was really weird. On the one hand it was cool and mesmerising, but at the same time, I wanted to look away 'cause it looked painful.

I obviously demand less of my "games" than you guys! I'm like "Katamari Damacy's nice, but why can't those balls roll themselves around, and I just watch?

I found this interesting, 'cause I didn't think it (Tetka) was a game myself. No opponent(s), no high scores to beat, that sort of thing. I still don't consider it a game, but I... I kind of wish I did.
