Hmm, that's the last time I follow one of your links at work.

Not that I didn't enjoy it. But still.

As long as you didn't pull the trigger you're probably okay.

Murder has a sexual side

Heh. I opened that link in the middle of the teacher's room during cleaning time at Shiohama junior high school. Right next to Tokyo Disney. The vice principal happened to be behind me at the time. I said, "oh shit!" and shut the case. He just laughed at me and quized me about when were the proper times to use the words "oh shit!". It's a great country.

I guess everyone clicks that link thinking it's going to be "just murder". I guess you're allowed to look at murder at work, but not sex? Murder is clean, sex is dirty, that kind of thing? But if you mix them together, surprisingly, sex wins and it all becomes "dirty"!

Yes, I suppose if there's a reason that looking at murder photos would be "work-safe" and looking at beautiful nude women wouldn't be, it's that for most people beautiful nudes are the sort of thing you might want to look at for hours on end and neglect your work, whereas murder photos are not. I imagine if one's boss caught one chronically staring at murder photos when one is meant to be working it would end up being a similar problem.

For my part -- I wasn't paying much attention and assumed [livejournal.com profile] imomus had simply posted a list of interesting links he wanted to share. I assumed that particular one was either an essay or an article about an art exhibit. I closed it rather quickly and didn't pick up on the netdisaster bit until much later. (I'm not upset or anything, in fact I deserve it for reading LJ at work, but it was funny.)

I remember when I was a teenager and first conniving to get my hands on some porn (back in the pre-web days, obviously). I bought an issue of Hustler, and was fascinated and aroused by the inclusion of men as sex partners for the women (as opposed to "women on display" as in Penthouse and Playboy), but repulsed by an article with lots of pictures of dead (simulated? but convincing) body parts about sexual murders. So for me murder is definitely the "dirty" part, but I'm pretty vanilla that way I suppose.
