Farewell, new world!

Later today I leave New York and fly back to London, where I'll be battling jetlag to record The Momus Story for Cherry Red TV -- an epic interview about my music career destined to thunder in the annals of anal alongside The Alvin Stardust Story and The Jim-Bob Story. (I love you, Cherry Red! I love how you care!)

This month, for me, though, has really been The Aki Sasamoto Story. I spent the first half of the month dressed up as a kabuki stalker, pursuing Aki around an art gallery, and the second half being pursued by Aki, now herself dressed up as a kabuki stalker, around rock stages. I had an inexpressibly wonderful time. Thanks, Aki, and thanks America!

The Momus Aki Story

Your show at Highline was inexpressibly captivating. Momus, your songs had achieved the completely new dimension of meanings with Aki Sasamoto's presence and dancing. Thank you so much for the real music. Come back to New York City.

bye bye momus...

it was great seeing you and Aki. Really inspiring show at the art gallery. Really really great combo.
Sorry about all the street signs, and people in uniforms prohibiting you from doing things, and especially sorry about the bus driver that yelled at you.

great shows
in Fishtown (in front of a partly imaginary audience), and in New York where the graceful Aki had room to play off the power of your words

Its all new at The Lazy Boy Galleries Cocktail hour!
All visitors to the country while away their hours there and then go out for a few jolly good dust ups!

I didn't know your music at all. I gave myself a crash course in it the day of your NYC show, then I went to the show. You did a great job. It was a fantastic example of how a performer can use body movement alone (yours & Aki's) to hold the audience's interest in the absence of anything else on stage. And for 2 & 1/2 hours no less. Question: what was the first song of the encore? I went to the restroom & missed it.

liked your show, want more.

I missed your show on Tuesday. It sounds like you and Aki presented another great show. I went to the gallery earlier this month, and the experience is still delighting and haunting my heart. Aki has been one of my favorite artists, and I am so happy (though not surprised) to learn her appearance on a rock stage. She is always expanding, what a gem! You two are truly multi-talented artists. Anybody filmed the NY Momuthon?

Momus and Aki, thank you for rare vaudeville.

iPhone put the stress on the brilliant lyrics, but you are complete composer of genius.

2 nyc adorers .

I applaud your performance Momus, the show was histrionical. You belong on the podium and in our hearts forever. The link leads to a slideshow of your Momuthon i put together:

Shows in London?

Now a 2-3 hour show at that pub in Hackney? Or anywhere, really.

Nick - is there any chance of another Vodka Jellies type compilation? You must have lots more songs that you haven't put on a cd, and it is a pity to think of stuff like Erostratus and 7th Wife not having a prioper release.

Aki looks too awesome for words in this picture. She's like a lethargic ninja Tank Girl. I want to marry her and raise a slew of drunken baby ninjas.

Pleased to meet you

Hey Nick!

Good luck with the thing at Cherry Red, and if you need any designs for it, please count on me!

Cheers

you sound very sad to be leaving.i know that feeling well,a deep well of melancholia.the trouble is you will romanticize your time in ny.maybe its best if you take your own advice and see everything even experience as disposable and move on to the next.
is there going to be a doc on dvd with this cherry red thing..get paul morley and youll be on bbc2 (great nights entertainment)late at night maybe a culture show special.ih would love that, you and morley chatting.

yes

with all due respect aki.i think momus conceptualized you out of the arena.his musings were of intrigue and frivolity. you well you tended to shout so i...well i in turn listened with capitals set down.set down to.....good luck/?
