Tonight I'll be reading in New York from my two forthcoming books, The Book of Scotlands and The Book of Jokes. It happens at Starr Space (a space run by painter Jules de Balincourt) near the Jefferson L-train stop in Brooklyn. Lord Whimsy will also read, Rusty Santos (Ocky Milk and Animal Collective producer) will play music, and Aki Sasamoto will dance.

Rusty Santos will debut an intimate set of largely unreleased solo material.

When I read the title of this post, I imagined that the crowns on my teeth were made of paper for a moment, at which point I got the shivers as I imagined them soggy and tearing as I chewed, like cat's claws and tissue paper.

Just now had the good fortune to witness this performance and enjoyed it immensely. While you were reading from The Book of Jokes I was struck by the similarity of your vocal delivery and deliberate movements to the dramatic storytelling style of Edward Ka-Spel of the Legendary Pink Dots, which left quite an impression on me when I saw them at the Troubadour in Los Angeles back in '97 or '98. I suspect it's just a coincidence, but have you ever seen him perform one of his stories?

I've had Ka-Spel comparisons before, but never really encountered his work.

Glad you enjoyed the show!

"I've been asked by the Rosenbach Museum in Philadelphia to help with it's annual public reading of James Joyce's Ulysses on Bloomsday, June 16th."

Such a bad example of English for the purpose of selling of Lordy's book on Amazon does not provide good boding!
