My Post-Materialist column in the New York Times yesterday covered Edinburgh's Analogue, its new graphic zine line Running Amok, and Nieves Books in Zurich, the inspiration behind it.

More fallout from my week in Scotland -- here are Duglas Stewart's videos of my rendition of His Majesty the Baby and a glimpse of Germlin's set from Stereo, Glasgow, last Sunday:

Like chapbooks for art! Great idea. They seem a bit like very thin versions of Taschen's little square books on famous artists.

His Majesty the Baby is great fun.

The bookstore looks wonderful.

Tell me. What's up with the eye patch? Does it move from one eye to the other?

My LiveJournal default picture is actually reversed, just because PhotoBooth reverses photos because it's trying to be like a mirror. Then when you're processing them, because the image looks so familiar (from looking in the mirror), you forget to flip them over. Or you just say "That's me!" and leave it.

Ah-hah! I thought it might be like Igor's hump in Young Frankenstein.

Your Baby song really channels Tom Waits, no?

That's funny, Tom Waits was playing Glasgow the same week I did and the tickets were £60 or something. Mine were £10. So I'm the cut-price Waits.

Joe tells me Waits was on the same night, and the tickets were £80!

You need a Scarlett Johanson type to cover your songs to legitimize your legacy. Then you can start charging that much.

On a tangent: what's your take on Miroslav Tichý? The Pompidou is showing a retrospective of his work (http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2008/aug/02/art.photography). I was thinking that he's one artist for whom the label "tender pervert" is particularly apt.

They look like how I imagined the photos Barry George took of women (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7532972.stm) would look. But I suppose if one were writing a catalogue essay, one would have to fill it with stuff about the "hermetic hermeneutics of desire" and so on.

Text message from my friend Chris this morning: 'So now Momus has embedded my videos and credited them to Duglas Stewart!'

We are enjoying being part of Click Opera this week!

He also took some photos you might like (http://www.flickr.com/photos/horsemeatpie/sets/72157606455721596/).

Oh, sorry, credit should go to Chris -- Chris who? Chris Terrasse?

Another Chris entirely - there are two of us!

No need to apologise: I'm not precious about the credit; in fact, I'm tempted to see if Duglas will swap the credit for the videos for the credits for Serious Drugs.

Great show in Glasgow, Nick. Please come again soon.

hello Momus,
I was reading an article about hipsters in Adbusters, thought it interesting enough, some good points. Was wondering, if you've read it, what you may think.

Sounds like hell on earth.
