Hisae and I are in Glasgow, staying with Joe Howe / Germlin. Here's a glimpse of the excellent Jim Lambie installation at GoMA; concrete wedges of vinyl albums and crosshatched floor tape filling the elegant Victorian hall.

We'll try and see the Harry Smith Anthology Remixed show at CCA tomorrow, and maybe Recoat Gallery, before heading off to Newcastle to play the Star Cinema... and maybe see Yoshitomo Nara and Mariko Mori at Baltic Mill. Details of the Momus shows in Newcastle (Wednesday) and Glasgow (Sunday) are on the LastFM Momus events page.

Here, from the NYLVI blog, is a video of King Solomon's Song and Mine and Violets from my Berlin show two nights ago.

Dear Momus,

It's been a while - Newcastle used to be my old haunt - cherish the Geordie scowls and kids eating pasties.

It's getting a bit like a Primark Tom Waits. Were you made in China. I like it.

What a pity! I would have liked to see your show. Some other time, I guess. Thank you for answering.

Thank you for Newcastle

I'm not trying to be anonymous, i just don't have a live journal account!

Thank you for braving Newcastle for last night's show. It was a truly unique experience which I'm delighted you and Craig saw fit to share.

Send my regards to Michael, and thank you for the signed poster,

Simon

Hi

Saw your show in Newcastle last night - first time at the S&S, first time seeing you and first time even hearing any of your music.

Came to your blog sort of via Howard Devoto. Curiosity was aroused - and I'm glad I made the effort to go last night.

Now I want to hear more - but which album to buy first? I guess you'd say the most recent one....

Thanks for a great night at the Star and Shadow. I was new to your music and the gig was a perfect introduction. Amazing lyrics, still have images of the stories in my head.

I thought the encore 'Bishonen' was outstanding! Hope you enjoyed Newcastle and thanks again.

Cheers Gary

Is there actual bidding going on for the songs? Or is it just show?
I'm sorry to have missed you in Utrecht a few months ago. Do you think you'll be playing in the Netherlands anytime soon? Promote your new album?

Well, this is going to sound rude however I say it so I may as well dive in.

You have some produced many wonderful songs but this karaoke performance style really doesn't put them in their best light. If someone knows the songs from your recordings, they can get the pleasure of recognition but you have to wonder how many new fans you can win. The have-ipod-can-sing-anywhere set-up must bring many freedoms but the songs seems to suffer. It would need a greater financial outlay but you would surely get a broader audience if you decided to do something as rockist as arrange a few dates backed by some live musicians and show your work in greater glory.
