Speaking as a girl in very similar glasses, I say awww. And thank you. And wow, totally amazing illustrations! Are they all from the same book? What is it?
Vice magazine just recently released its 2008 Global Trend Report:
Is there still no respite from this shit? Vintage glasses have been completely played out. Subculture uniforms are the worst type of conformism -- it combines the bogus "these clothes are my identity" aspect of FASHION with all the unoriginality of following a dress-by-numbers scheme.
Buy some converse, get some skinny jeans and move to the back of the queue.
LOL. *approves* Also, vintage glasses will never go out of style while the only alternative is those hideous tiny steel-framed oblongs that seem to fill 99% of opticians these days.
So what's the subtext of this post? That glasses also = brainy, therefore brainy girls are sexy? That glasses also = indie, therefore indie girls are sexy?
But really, that whole "men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses" is a bit old now isn't it? Glasses have been a sexy accessory for quite a while. The very fact that one can so easily wear contact lenses now means that girls who wear glasses must think the glasses add something to their appearance.
I wear steel framed specs 'cos I can see past them and they don't totally fill my peripheral vision. Mind you having had to suffer NHS spec-based bullying at school I couldn't go back...

And what's wrong with that?
a) It's a collective identity [nothing wrong with them].
b) It's "by numbers" so you don't have to scratch your head about what to wear every day. [Which frees you for other more important things]

Zoku Youkai Gadan
続 妖怪画談
Zoku just means the sequel. He's famous for the Yokai manga "Gegege no Kitaro".
