Here are some of the musical events I'll be playing and attending in Japan and Hong Kong over the next couple of months:

Sunday August 8th: Momus performs at the Placard event in Yoyogi Park, Shibuya, Tokyo. This will be a performance of the 'Summerisle' material. Momus onstage at 1900 (the outdoor stage, Yoyogi Park, just beyond NHK Building).

Tuesday August 10th: Momus attends the warabimochi event in Omihachiman, Siga, near Kyoto. This warabimochi tea party concert (with performances by a Sado teacher + PHIRIP + Yuko Nexus6) has been organised by the wonderful Phirip, a big fan of the traditional Japanese cakes. 'Bracken rice cake is eaten appreciating the electronic music/performance on the theme of tea in a tea party.' The event is from 10am to 4pm. You can see Phirip in this video.

Wednesday 18th August: Momus does mp3jing at the Digiki event in Osaka. Club Stomp, 18:00-23:00. 1000 yen for 1 drink. Club Stomp is at Shinsaibashi, Osaka.

Sunday 22nd August: Another Phirip event in Siga. This time it's an architectural guided tour of 'Japanese red light place and little old building'.

Sunday 29th August: Momus concert at Gallery Soap, Fukuoka, Kyushu.

Friday September 3rd: Momus live in Hong Kong with The Pancakes. Address: Fringe Gallery, 2 Lower Albert Rd, Hong Kong, China (Phone: 2521-7251).

Saturday September 4th: Momus live in Hong Kong with The Pancakes (second night).

Saturday September 11th: Momus live in Tokyo, Club Que, Shimokitazawa. This is the real Momus Tokyo show, featuring material from the forthcoming album and old stuff.

Tuesday September 21st: Momus concert at Club Noon (Osaka). The event is titled 'Dedicate monument to obscure poets', and promoter Tetsuya Matsukawa's text is poetry in itself:

The explorers in mirage, great chefs of deserted castles,
Philosophe of chaos, architect of the soundscape,
Historical spectators, bedside dreamer,
Crotchety warman, supporting cast in masquerade.
They look somehow familiar, but we've never seen them.
It's important to know that their words draw down each epoch.
Well, we would try to chronicle the history of their poets.
Here are monuments.

mr. momus-

i really DONT mean to be an asshole with this question. im thinking about going into composition and what not as far as a career goes, which really isnt too steady income-wise but i love it and thats what really matters. you write music and what not, and your life seems to be...uh...adventure filled. my really asshole-seeming-ish question is: do you have a job other than writing music? any tips etc...would be kind of nice!

thanks!
steve.

I do the odd bit of journalism too. For Vice, Voice (http://journal.aiga.org/), Index, etc. When I get back to Berlin in October I'll be making music for a student theatre piece. None of it pays well, but it's interesting and stimulating and allows me to travel a lot, which I love.

I lived in Quebec for two years, so I know where Quebec City is! I've been there, but never played a show there. As always, if anyone knows a promoter and can make me a sensible offer, I'll consider it. Bear in mind, though, that I'm on the other side of the world right now and committed until the end of the year.

The more appropriate title to the 1st poster would be "dedicated to obscureD poets". Ancient Greeks drowned in modern fonts.

I love the first one with all the butterflies, squirrels and balloons. It looks so happy and sweet. And I am glad to see that you’ve gained some weight.

i just stick to weird people like a magnet
(weird meant in a nice way)
the idea of warabimotchi tea tasting and architectural guided tour of Japanese red light place and little old building makes me want to do an intensive 3 day course of science and try to invent a teleportation device myself. Have a ball!

Am I right to suppose that's Pancakes beside you on that poster? I really liked her 'alright' album, but I didn't know she was cute too. Nice to see one's expectations met.

Yes, that's Deejay from Pancakes. She is Pancakes, basically, though I hear she plays with a mini-orchestra sometimes in Hong Kong.
