So where's the Gordon slash?
Jun. 29th, 2007 06:20 amJudging by appearances is such a non-Presbyterian -- and therefore non-Gordon Brown -- thing to do, but let's say it anyway: Britain's new prime minister was a remarkably handsome guy back in the mid-70s.

He was also, as we saw last year, a rather good student rector at Edinburgh University. Click here for the video featuring these images, and to hear an Edinburgh University official, speaking in 1975, saying "Sometimes student rectors seem to think that once they are rector this is equivalent to being prime minister."

Date: 2007-06-30 01:34 am (UTC)The concept of any real left/right dichotomy within British politics is as dead as it is within U.S. politics; always amusing however to watch nominal socialists indulge their delusion by cheering on the U.K. Labour party or the U.S. Democrats.
The policy differences betwixt Conservative and Labour and similarly Republican and Democrat are roughly akin to the product differences between Coke and Pepsi.
