Did you ever wonder how the Mallorcans make that delicious dish, "destroyed eggs"? How a "cybernetic intellectual renaissance man" feels as he takes the stage? Or how Marc Bolan really died?

Come on a blindfold guided tour of the place Mallorcans just call la cuidad, the city, and learn the answers to all of these questions and more! Yes, it's the Palma Podcast (mono mp3 file, 42mins 33secs, 19.5 MB)!

Hi There,

I'm dowloading your podcast now, and am looking forward to listening to it on my way to work :-) It seems a while since you've done one...I always enjoy them--especially, let's see, your Japan podcasts, oh!--and the one from Macau.

Thanks Again!

Oh, your accent just becomes more and more exotic every time.

I liked that anecdote about Bolan. It would seem very like him to have died of a sexual favour but I don´t think there´s enough room for that in a mini. While driving. With three people in the back.

It was such a great experience, although I barely grasped some words of your last song. It was about peanuts, right? :D

It's funny how these days people with no understanding of maths or science can get called "renaissance man" or, even funnier, "polymath".

The word polymath comes from the words poly meaning many and manthánein meaning to learn. Just because the word "Math" is in there does not denote any involvement of mathematics.

Hey, I was expecting a link to Wikipedia, but you at least show more class.

My comment was not about etymology, but about intension.

There was a time when you couldn't be considered "learned" without knowledge of maths. But anyway, these days it seems to be enough to have an opinion to be considered thus, and hence if you have an opinion about a variety of things... Etc.

Or why would "polymath" be funnier than Renaissance man when the latter actually does have the connotation that the person labelled thus be a Leonardo type figure?

Don't think so. Spain is in many ways nearer to New Zealand than it is to Portugal! I'm writing a book to that effect, in fact...

Ok, about this podcast: It was so very, very, very cool hearing all that Spanish intermingled with the aural scenery in the background, particularly since my ethnicity would dictate that I would have quite a bit of Spanish ancestry in me, and because it was drilled into my head by Mom and Dad that I Must Learn Spanish or Else. Anyway. Also, the "cholesterol omelette" featuring those "destroyed eggs" sounds like something you'd find as an option for a breakfast taco filling at a Tex-Mex Mexican restaurant. I imagine the eggs are "destroyed" via scrambling, then dropped into a pan with fried diced potato and some kind of soft, minced-style chorizo, and then the garlic is added to it all. Almost the same as papas con chorizo y huevos, which I like to make for my Saturday breakfast/lunch. Anyway. Another great podcast, and it's too bad they misspelled your name.
