Hanging out at gay bar Julius in "the Village" with those awfully nice men in Matmos last night after their excellent concert (featuring squeaky balloons, people playing vibes with roses for mallets, rape alarms, Berber horns, readings of Wittgenstein, anti-man rants by Kiki of Kiki and Herb, and a pizzicato birdcage) at the Whitney.

Love the tapeworm t-shirt, Drew!

haha black-rimmed glasses. When I was looking for an appartment in downtown Manhattan, the realtor gave me a complimentary pair. She said it would be for my own good.

love the grey suit, mr. schmidt!

momus, refering to your yesterday's post - i don't quite get how you can write for vice magazine, considering they are mainly covering sexy teenage junkies puking for fashion shots and gay nazis beating each other to death in sex orgies - vice germany asked me to contribute a comic, while i wasn't quite aware of the magazine, and somehow i didn't do it for reasons of other deadlines, but later i picked up some issues and was glad not to have appeared in a magazine with a basic editorial attitude of "dude, how cool is that to be just totally fucked up".

so i'm thinking of visiting an art museum tomorrow on my first new york trip. would you recommend the whitney or would i be more pleased with contemporary art elsewhere, like the moma? hmmmmmmm?

The MoMA is booooooooooooring. If you do something MoMA-related, go to PS1 (http://www.ps1.org/) in Queens.

But much, much more interesting is the Whitney. Really!

how's the whitney compared to the guggenheim? i'll only go to the whitney tomorrow if i happen to have a chance to see the unreliable tour guide, but i think telling me such would be too reliable of a thing to do. yes?

Weirdly enough, I've never been to the Guggenheim, so I don't know. They're between shows just now, preparing a Zaha Hadid show (yuk). So the Whitey it is! I should be there from about 2 to 5.

Momus,

I like the new palette, but I dunno about that tiled burlap background. just maximizing that one burlap image might yield a good pixelated effect.

Hah, I have seen that tapeworm shirt before - it is available in Meguro! The fantastic Meguro Parasitological Museum offers that and a nice handbag with a 3D tapeworm imprint. Did you ever go there when you lived in the area, mr M?
