My ex-wife Shazna and I met at Pongsri, my favourite Thai restaurant on Bayard Street, then drank tapioca pearl bubble tea at the Green Tea Cafe on Mott Street. Mine was flavoured with black sesame. We reminisced about the time we lived together in Paris, exchanged news... and exchanged hats.

"... and exchanged hats."

A very intimate thing. Some people (http://www.headlice.org/) would argue that it's too intimate (http://www.headlice.org/kids/books/sharing.htm).

Your left eye look very tired Momus. Jet lag can sure be really awful. Talking about jet lag, when will you "jet lag over" to Sweden, just out of curiousity?

Nick should host a Momus lookalike contest. Could be fun.

If he entered, himself, what place do you think Momus would come?

First, of course. Like any good self-mediator, he's been doing a spot-on impression of himself for years.

You suddenly seemed to have aged a lot this year: more lined, more gaunt, hair thinner and finer.

(not necessarily someting to worry about of course)

Oh, I just did a piece about Don Quixote in the Whitney today. It went "The first man to write Don Quixote was a genius. The second man to write Don Quixote was a genius too." I was sitting in a room full of replica Marcel Duchamp pieces at the time.

hi nick
this picture of yours with a horrendous bondage over your eye has brought back some recent surgical memories of mine. last summer i got into a car accident and, while bedridden in a hospital under direct influence of strong painkillers, murmured/"sung" some haunted minimalist crap over itunes' backing tracks. druggy digital sick-folk freakouts from a broken body.
if you got spare some time from mind-warping (un)suspecting art lovers, you may check them at www.myspace.com/nighttraffichurtsrules

p.s. i had eye surgeries as a child (both eyes), and it felt like a cider flood - everything looked yellow and bubbling.
p.p.s. also last summer i've had an honour to visit a jolly ol'town of aberdeen where i heard you studied. nearly got arrested in a park for drinking beer out of a can. loved the place of great tranquikity.

cheers,
nighttraffichurts, moscow

Great! Don Quixote is not celebrated enough. You could add "The man trying to remake Don Quixote now, is a genius too." Terry Gilliam, I mean.

I've recently written a piece on Don Quixote (http://nomorepolitics.livejournal.com/?skip=20#nomorepolitics1537), too.

Today my husband and I went to the Whitney. We saw you briefly around 1:30 pm and then lost you. You were walking really quickly! I wanted to chat to you but was afraid of breaking the fourth wall and all that. I helped set up that benefit concert for the homeless at Fez in early 2001 when you performed with Kahimi Karie. Not sure if you would have remembered me. Oh well, it was a great art exhibit! You are doing an awesome job -- that is not an easy gig.

...and I heard you say, "I am the ghost of Christmas Past."

I said, look honey it's him! That was so surreal! It really made the end of the Bienniel tour special.
