I lived and worked there too, speak the language, etc. I came back from work at 6-7 am, one hour commute ,when everybody was heading to the city, and I know it wasnt pleasurable to try to walk countercurrent to a mass of drones. And I agree with momus all the same. try riding a subway in spain at night without being harassed. watch out for your purse and for getting into a fight at peak time. let screaming teenagers and romanian buskers take care of your headache and your noxiousness. fight your way out of the train, as people haven't been enlightened by the idea that it's beneficial for everyone waiting to get in to let people get out first. Oh, in japan there's even lines marked in the floor for people to do that!
