And I'm not so sure about your oft-repeated maxim about the impossibility of finding a space outside society. Sure, in the absolutist sense we can't escape some kind of formulation of society, but we can certainly step out of social contexts. Surely, by exiling yourself from the UK, you felt you were removing yourself from something - from a certain social setup? Otherwise, what was the point?
