It's not about their identity, it's about your approach to the ethics of representation, it's about responsibility in the use of images in a public context
You know, there are random people caught on camera in public places on my blog and Flickr stream week in, week out. It's interesting that objections about "objectification" and "the white male gaze" and so on only come up when these are Muslims. Of course it's about their identity, when you use terms like these! You have decided that, because of their identity, they must be victims. This stuff about "the ethics of representation and responsibility in the use of images" only comes up because you've decided that. I find it belittling and reductive.
