I Actually came to the comments to ask about that. I'm finding the picture somewhat unclear. Is it a real person? A drawing? A doll? If it is a real person, is she famous? Or just an advertisement actress?
She's real, an advertising actress, but Panasonic have made her look as much as possible like a virtual idol (http://www.akadot.com/article.php?a=99). I suppose the subliminal message is 'Girls, get a digital camera and you too can become as perfect as a digital lifeform.'
I will gladly sponsor an initiative to turn that yellow and red thing (train? hovercraft? land-boat?) into an actual transportational device that I can ride in to school every day.
That's an early prototype of a magnetic levitation train (http://www.o-keating.com/hsr/maglev.htm). My hometown of Berlin will open a maglev line to Hamburg next year!
On some of the posters they even refer to her as a new version of Hamazaki, as if she`s been remodeled by the camera company. They show her from various angles, defying gravity, in the style of a product display. The first time I saw it was from behind. She was very shapely. The camera is at her side, so I guess she`s invading the product display and getting sliced up in its slide show.
Oh, actually it seems the Berlin Hamburg maglev line has been cancelled (http://www.maglev.com/en/index.html). Only Shanghai seems to have an operational maglev line at the moment.
Momus, you were right next to my neighborhood when you went to the Transportation Museum. (I live in Asashiobashi....next to Bentencho) I'm guessing the Ayumi Billboard is near Shinsaibashi (I haven't seen such a big one @ Bentencho) She has for years struck me as a bit of an android. My earlier offer for a coffe or meal in Osaka is still open if you have the time .....if not, understandable, as you seem quite busy. I can be reached at redonut@hotmail.com. if you're interested. I think the intent with her eyes is she wants to look perpetually like she's just about to burst into tears.
He processed singing pyrotechnics are very impressive and reinforce her unreal qualities. Your typical chosen for their image pop princess tends to wage a losing struggle with competent singing. So while she lacks the unhinged qualities af a true artist (say Jun Togawa) there's an element of marvel in her stuff
