Geisai 6 opens on Sunday. Geisai is Tokyo's biggest annual fair of new art from emerging talents. It was started by Takashi Murakami in 2002, and I attended the very first one. I'm looking forward to spending Sunday at this one, subtitled 'Xtreme Art'. It's opening on September 12th, running from 10am to 6pm at Tokyo Big Sight, a showspace on Odaiba which you can reach by taking the Yamanote line to Shimbashi station then switching to the monorail that crosses the bay.

Saturday night in Tokyo also sees another important event: the annual Momus concert! Do come along to Shimokitazawa and see me. My stage time is 8.20pm.

This sounds terribly exciting! They just opened a very similar exhibit in San Jose, featuring Yoshitomo Nara exclusively called Nothing Ever Happens (http://www.absolutearts.com/artsnews/2004/07/26/32231.html). As soon as I get down there to check it out, I'll report on it :)

Ooooh, that Geisai festival sounds like it rocks ass--I'm a huge fan of Takashi Murakami and Hiropon Factory, and also the Dig Me Out stable of artists. Without even meaning to, Murakami's been influencing my political cartooning work these past few years.

Anyway--I have GOT to find a way to go the next Geisai!

Geisai rocks!!
When I first went to Japan, to attend the first edition of Geisai was number 1 on my list of priorities!

By the way, during my stay in Japan, I often happened to coincidentally attend the same events as you did and hang out in the same places, for example,I remember seeing you at the Emi Necozawa CD lauch at Les Baccanales or shopping at Sofmap in Yurakocho, although I already knew who you where, I guess I wasn't that outgoing back then, so, sadly, I barely ever spoke to you outside from the occasional comment on LJ.

I can't say much until it's confirmed. But it's not Tokyo.

My best uninformed guess would be Aichi or Gifu.

'Cheers' from Manchester.
