It's a bloody ordeal writing this on my new iPod Touch, but it proves that true moblogging is possible with this device. I was in JR Camera when they got their first batch of the devices in, and they told me mine was the first they'd sold over the counter.

Drawbacks: you can't enter calendar events; you have to download them from your computer. Also, it won't play any RealAudio files. Ubu.com files are too big to play, and there's no cut and paste. Other than that, it's mind-gobblingly brilliant. I could play live shows with this, and it does the web wherever there's wifi -- kind of dangerous for me; I'll never be offline.

Also saw the new New Museum (the SANAA-designed one, due to open on December 1st) on the Bowery today. Will post a photo from the laptop; it's theoretically possible to do from an iPod Touch, but clunkissimo.

Augh! I live literally right by there, in that orange, ugly-modernist buillding on Spring and Mott.
Technically we were relative neighbors for a time, but I had no idea you existed(I think I even discovered Centre For The Dull at around the same time as you did, although that might have been when you were just visiting).

Also, I walked by Zakka and just found out it had closed/moved to brooklyn, and I'm really very disappointed about it.
When are you coming down to Cake Shop! I'm never there, but yeah.

Agreeed about the streaming-- though it's more of a problem for me when things are in Real to being with, than when devices won't play them. But the new iThings don't do streaming MP3 or AAC either. I would love to have a portable WFMU device.

With the iPhone keyboard (same as the Touch), I've realized that sometimes if you just let loose and type really, really fast, it just works even though it seems like it ought not to. Or at least, you end up typing something funny.

Funny, I was just about to comment on your last entry with my sister's iPhone! But I got too mad at it while trying to log in. When my sister was buying her iPhone, I was playing around with the displays and left the phone on your blog. "Accidentally."

No RealAudio is a "feature" in my book.

I bit the bullet and let Google own my life. Google calendar will let you add events to your phone and will show up on your iCal (via ICS).

I suppose if I'd read more carefully, I'd know what you were doing in NYC.

What about apple PDA

I'm not commenting on an iPhone or iPod-touch... But I would be very glad to have an Apple PDA, the most expected Newton 2... with the leopard OS... With the capabilities of iTouch but with direct handwriting on touch-screen (better than the small keyboard... A "joke device"!!)
But hey! this isn't a technofreak blog... But Momus, I'm sure you have some friends to whom you can talk to at Cupertino! talk to them about the urgency of a PDA! I'm certain that all Cupertino's iPod are full of Momus songs! for sure! (there's no other reason to have an iPod, I think...) (ok, ... maybe Godspeed You! black emperor music...)
