Crimp in my sobriety

Tomorrow I leave Berlin for Barcelona and three months of globe-trotting. I'll be posting to this journal as I go.
When I get back in October it looks as if I'll be making and performing music in a student production of Attempts on her Life by Martin Crimp. A student at the Ernst Busch School of Theatre and Dance here in Berlin, Gergana Dimitrova, has commissioned me to compose music for the production and perform it nightly on the stage with the actors during the run. I'm reading the script right now and it's a strong piece of work which reminds me (so far, anyway) of Tropismes by Nathalie Sarraute. I've never done music for a play, and this is an adventurously oblique and experimental one, so I'm looking forward to the work.
