I think it's just that somehow Bush (and let's not overestimate him, he is on the way out) has managed to appear both populist and aristocratic-nepotistic, so both populists and cliquey nepotists can be seen as veering, potentially, towards the two faces of Bush. We've never needed more to make a class-in-itself (those oppressed by the neo-cons) a class-for-itself (those who vote for someone else).
