Humpty Flip
Feb. 11th, 2006 12:27 amToday is my birthday. Today I turn humpty-flip.

In the photo it's two days before my humpty-flipth birthday, though, and I'm in Kyoto, checking out Voordom Eye Yamataka's exhibition Ongaloo at ArtZone. (More images from the show here.) That's why I'm wearing the funny mask. It's designed by Eye.
I'll be celebrating my humpty-flipth birthday this weekend mostly wearing nothing at all; I'm off to Kinosaki to steep away sorrow in seven different onsens, one after the other. One for each of Shakespeare's Seven Ages of Man, perhaps. I seem to be between Age 3 and Age 4, between "the lover, sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad made to his mistress' eyebrow" and the "soldier, full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard, jealous in honour, sudden, and quick in quarrel, seeking the bubble reputation..."
Seven bubbling hot spring baths will console me for being half way through the seven ages, but not half as much as the thought that perhaps you'll still need and feed me when I'm 64.
